Position Details:
As a Planner, you will be integral to the logistics operations, ensuring efficient communication and coordination within the supply chain. Reporting to the Logistics Director, your core skills in data entry, analysis, and freight management will be essential for optimizing transportation processes. Proficiency in transportation management systems communication in French and or in English will enhance your effectiveness in this role. Your ability to handle multi-line phone systems and manage shipping and receiving tasks will further support our commitment to delivering exceptional service. Key Responsibilities:
Plan and optimize transportation routes to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods.
Develop transportation networks that maximize efficiency and minimize delays.
Use software tools (like route optimization software) to design and adjust routes based on traffic patterns, delivery windows, and vehicle capacity.
Analyze transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost savings or efficiency improvements.
Assess transportation performance by evaluating delivery times, fuel usage, and vehicle capacity.
Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the transportation process and implement solutions to resolve them.
Monitor transportation expenditures and implement strategies to reduce costs, such as optimizing load sizes, reducing empty miles, or negotiating better rates with carriers.
Evaluate and select appropriate carriers or freight providers for different transportation needs.
Negotiate transportation contracts, rates, and service level agreements (SLAs) with carriers.
Monitor and manage relationships with carriers to ensure service quality and compliance with contractual terms.
Forecast transportation needs based on inventory levels, sales projections, and seasonal trends.
Qualifications:
2-5 years of experience in transportation planning, logistics, or supply chain management.
Proven experience in designing and optimizing transportation routes, managing freight operations, or overseeing transportation network operations.
Skills & Abilities:
Route Planning & Optimization: Strong ability to plan efficient transportation routes to minimize costs and ensure timely deliveries.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze transportation data, including performance metrics, traffic patterns, and cost structures, to inform decision-making and identify optimization opportunities.
Project Management: Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify inefficiencies or issues in the transportation process and propose solutions.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, including drivers, vendors, clients, and internal teams.
Negotiation Skills: Experience negotiating rates and contracts with freight carriers or third-party logistics providers.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, particularly when managing logistics data, documentation, and compliance.
